"Mirror of Dreams - Nightbreak" by Cary Heuchert, is a two-part suite of progressive folk-rock with spacey overtones, featuring rich textures of Mellotron strings and cello.
Cary explains: "I wrote and began recording this song in January 2017. In the first section, I used 6-string acoustic guitar, and accompanied by a new device for guitar, the MEL-9 Mellotron pedal; which is an amazing innovation. I played electric guitars in the second section, as well as fretless bass, gong, and drums, finally completing it in mid-August 2017. It's all about the final moments of the day before the night falls, when we slip into the dreamworld. Perhaps we are waiting for the coming day, but we must first return and enter our nightly unconscious state."
This was the first of two interim single releases by Cary in 2017 (the other being a cover of Pink Floyd's "Cymbaline"), which bridged the gap between his albums, "Blue Rain" (2014) and "Hourglass" (2021).
